SLHC offers an evening Angling & Skills Clinic that stresses the many components of contact confidence skill development. An emerging player will be fundamentally stronger, have more confidence and be better prepared to play in the coming season.
Checking correctly and voiding checking pressure is a skill. The more checking skills are developed the more the game becomes fun. The concepts of angling, impeding progress, making contact and sealing the man are essential to hockey today.
Contact Confidence leads to a more successful hockey experience and is often referred to as how competitive a player is.
- Angling techniques
- Gap control
- Separate the man from the puck
- They will move into avoiding the check
- Reacting to checking pressure
- Skating to overcome checking pressures
- Learn how to take a check and proper angling
- Contact the player with confidence to control and impede the puck carrier
* Clinic instructors will pair players with participants of equal size so maximum learning can take place.
- 1 Evening – 1 Hour
- Clinics run during Sessions 1 through 7 in Sylvan Lake
- Students must be 10 years old or older to enter this clinic, or be turning 10 this year
- 30 students per clinic
